Start with the Modern board
Modern is the normal mesdeparts.ch experience on the app pages. It opens one stop or station at a time and shows departure cards with line, destination, departure time, countdown, platform or track when available, alerts and the current live status.
Use Classic if you prefer the older table-style board. Classic controls are still documented below, but the main Help flow now follows the Modern board first.

Search a stop or station
Use the search field at the top of Modern to choose the board you want to read. If location access is allowed, the nearby-stop action can help you start from stops around you.
- Open the app in your language.
- Type at least two letters from the stop or station name, or use the nearby-stop action when available.
- Choose the matching stop, station, platform or track result.
- Read the departure cards; live details appear only when the source provides usable updates.
Save stops on this device
Open the app menu to save the current stop, reopen saved stops and keep the board you use often close at hand.
Favorites, selected language and last-used settings stay in local browser storage on this device. There is no mesdeparts.ch account and no sync to other devices.
Filter the Modern board
Use Filters on the Modern board when a stop has more departures than you need. Depending on the board, you can narrow by line, platform or track, train-service group, or visible alerts.
The served-line chips near the board are a faster shortcut when you only want one bus, tram, metro or train line. Reset clears the selected filters for the current board.
Read live status and colors
mesdeparts.ch starts from the planned timetable and adds realtime updates when they are available for the stop, line or trip. If no usable update is available, Modern keeps the planned time visible instead of inventing an estimate.
The color is a confidence hint for the board, not a guarantee. It helps explain why one row can have live information while another row on the same stop remains planned-only.
The ~ marker means that the countdown uses only the planned timetable. Exact-stop and same-trip-derived GTFS realtime, plus OJP diversion estimates, appear without ~; their source provenance remains distinct.
- Green
- Live updates are being applied to this board where available.
- Orange
- Live data is partial, degraded, or getting old.
- Red
- Live data is stale or unavailable enough to treat carefully.
- Gray
- The row or board is currently using the planned timetable only.
Classic board reference
Classic is still available from the Classic board link. It uses the older table layout and its 3-dot board controls, so instructions about table columns belong here rather than at the top of Help.
In Classic, the controls can open search, favorites and filters. Bus, tram and metro-style boards can use Line or Min display modes; train boards use All, Regional or Long-distance. Columns such as Departure, Min and Delay appear according to the board type.
Classic table example
| Line | Destination | Departure | Min | Delay |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3 | Bellevaux | 13:36 | 4 | live |
| 21 | Blecherette | 13:42 | 10 | planned |
When to check official channels
mesdeparts.ch is independent and non-official. It is useful for quick board checks, but official station displays, operator apps and transport staff remain the reference for tickets, accessibility, major disruptions and decisions with real consequences.
